The American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABOG)

The ABOG examines and certifies nearly 1,700 obstetrician-gynecologists and subspecialists in maternal-fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology/ infertility, gynecologic oncology, female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery each year.

Additionally, more than 5,000 physicians are examined annually for the purpose of maintenance of certification.

Computer-Based Testing Tutorial and Practice Exam

Although the tutorial demonstrates many types of questions, the ABOG examinations only contain multiple choice questions. There is only one correct answer to each question.

Certification Application

Before scheduling an examination appointment, you must have already:

  1. Been approved for an ABOG qualifying examination;
  2. Been notified of your eligibility to sit for the examination;

Identification Requirements

Verification of your identification is an important part of the admission process. We ask that you arrive at the test center 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. This will provide adequate time to complete the necessary sign-in procedures. Unfortunately no extra time will be allowed to compensate for late arrival. Two forms of identity documentation are required to enter the exam room.

  • The primary identity document must contain your photograph and signature.
  • The secondary identity document must contain either your photograph or signature.

Scheduling

First-time test takers must create a Pearson VUE web account. If the name/address information you originally provided the ABOG is no longer accurate, you must resolve the discrepancies before you arrive at the test center. Appointments may be made up to one business day in advance.

After you schedule your test, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation letter listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test center.

Candidates are provided an erasable note board and marker for the duration of the examination. No scratch paper is offered or permitted.

Your examination results will NOT be available at the test center. Results will be provided to you by ABOG.
