UK Foundation Programme (UKFP)

Get certified from your home or office

Take your UKFP exam conveniently from home through OnVUE online proctoring. A live proctor will monitor you through the webcam on your workstation to provide a secure exam experience.

Watch the short video on the UKFP online proctoring page to see how convenient it is to test from home or work. Be sure to run the system test before you sign in to register for an online proctored exam. Good luck!

The Situational Judgement Test (SJT) forms part of the selection process for the UK Medical Foundation Programme. More information about the assessment is available on the UKFP website at https://foundationprogramme.nhs.uk/

To use the Pearson VUE test appointment scheduling webpages, you will be required to create a Pearson VUE web username and password. When invited to do so, use the 'Create Account' button on the right-hand side of this webpage. Refer to instructions you should have received from UKFPO. You only need to do this once. Subsequently, you can log in to your Pearson VUE account via the ‘Sign in’ button.

You will be invited to attend the SJT by the UKFPO via email. Once invited, you will be required to log in (using the 'Sign In' button on the right) and schedule your SJT date and time at one of the available Pearson VUE test centres. Alternatively, you have the option to take the SJT test in your own home, monitored remotely by webcam, by selecting the ‘OnVUE’ delivery method at the time of scheduling. Further guidance about scheduling an SJT appointment is given below.

If you require any reasonable adjustments to the assessment (for example extra time) that have not already been approved by UKFP, please contact the UKFP Team (helpdesk@foundationprogramme.nhs.uk) before you schedule a test appointment, so that we can ensure your needs can be accommodated at your preferred test centre (appointments with reasonable adjustments that are not simply extra time cannot normally be delivered via the ‘OnVUE’ remote invigilation method).

The OnVUE remote proctoring delivery method is offered as an optional alternative to taking the test in person in a test centre. Please note the OnVUE testing experience is comparable but not identical to testing in a test centre, as there are certain aspects of invigilation that are not feasible via OnVUE. When testing via OnVUE you must remain in the view of the webcam for the duration of your appointment. You may not move away or leave the room for any reason, which means it is not possible to take bathroom breaks when testing via this method. If you think this will be an issue for you, you should schedule your appointment to take place at a test centre instead.

If you opt to take the SJT remotely via the OnVUE delivery method, you are responsible for ensuring that your computer equipment, webcam, internet connection, etc, meet with the required criteria specified. You must be sure to read all of the relevant information given at www.pearsonvue.com/ukfp/onvue and https://foundationprogramme.nhs.uk/. Faulty equipment will not be taken into consideration in the event of failure to complete the assessment remotely; applicants will not be able to re-book for the SJT on the basis of faulty or non-operational equipment after the booking window closes.

The OnVUE delivery method is not suitable if you have been approved for an accommodation (reasonable adjustment) that involves more than a simple time extension. In these circumstances, you should schedule your test to be delivered at a Pearson VUE test centre. If in doubt, contact Pearson VUE customer services for advice (you can find the contact details via the Customer Service link in the top right of this page).

On the day of your assessment, the SJT will begin with a short tutorial to familiarise you with the controls and layout of the screens. If you wish to familiarise yourself with the controls beforehand, use the Related Link on the right to access the Pearson VUE testing tutorial.

The UKFP team would like to wish you every success in the SJT.

F2 Stand-alone applicants - Situational Judgement Test (F2 SJT)

Scheduling your appointment

The SJT is entitled “F2 Stand-alone Situational Judgement Test (SJT)”, with the exam series code F2-SJT. Once you have signed in to your Pearson VUE web account you will be able to choose between completing the assessment at home via OnVUE or in person in a test centre and then schedule your appointment (subject to availability).

If you change your mind about the delivery method (e.g. you scheduled a test centre appointment but now need to take the test via OnVUE at home), you will need to cancel your appointment and book a new one.

Information about the F2 SJT

During the test centre check-in process, you will be required to present one form of original (no photo copies), valid (unexpired) government issued ID that includes your name, photograph, and signature. The first and last name that you used to register must match exactly the first and last name on the ID that is presented on test day.

Read the full test centre ID policy here »

If you intend to test at home, the OnVUE ID policy for OnVUE testing is slightly different. Be sure to refer to the OnVUE related information here.

If you have any concerns about the ID you are required to present at your SJT test appointment, please contact the UKFP team at helpdesk@foundationprogramme.nhs.uk.

Once seated at the workstation, when the test is launched, you will be presented with the following:

NDA A non-disclosure agreement which you must accept in order to progress to the actual test Untimed
Tutorial An optional tutorial to help you understand the basic functionality of the computer-based test and how to navigate through it and select your responses 10 mins
SJT section 20 scenarios, each with several questions to respond to (rating) 45 mins
Survey An optional survey to enable you to give feedback 5 mins

NB: if you have been pre-approved for extra time (because of a medical or neurological condition), your allotted appointment slot time will be increased, and the total appointment duration (ie approximately how long you can expect to be at the test centre) will be indicated in the confirmation email you receive upon scheduling the appointment (e.g. for an adjustment of 25% extra time, the confirmation email will indicate a total appointment time of 75 minutes instead of the usual 60 minutes). If your email does not indicate an increased total appointment duration, then the extra time has not been applied to your appointment and you should contact UKFPO as soon as possible. On the day of your test, the Test Centre Administrator or Proctor cannot add extra time to an appointment that has not had the accommodation applied at the time of booking.

Note that on the day of the test, only the time for the SJT section itself will be increased by the percentage of the extra time accommodation you have been granted, rounded up to the nearest whole number (e.g. usual SJT section time of 45 mins + 25% extra time = 57 mins for the SJT) and the allotted time is displayed in the corner of the screen when you start the SJT section. Extra time is not added to any other timed sections (ie the durations of the tutorial and survey remain the same, 10 and 5 minutes respectively).
