Certified Water Technologist (CWT) by the Association of Water Technologies

The Association of Water Technologies offers a Certified Water Technologist (CWT) program. The CWT certification represents the highest professional credential in the industrial and commercial water treatment field. It provides professional recognition for individuals involved in water treatment and technology to indicate to the general public, co-workers, employers and others that an individual has achieved a high level of experience, knowledge and education in the industry. The CWT designation assures that water professionals possess a core body of knowledge and have extensive professional experience in all aspects of water treatment.

Scheduling for a computer-based exam 

Here’s how to schedule an exam:

1. Call AWT at (240) 404-6477 and request a candidate ID number.
2. AWT will send you an email with your candidate ID number.
3. Schedule your exam by phone or online. You will be required to pay the examination fee during scheduling. Exam appointments may be made up to one business day in advance. Locations are available on a first-come first-serve basis.

First-time test takers must create a Pearson VUE web account. Please note that account activation may require up to 24 hours.

After you schedule your test, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation letter listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test center.
