Minneapolis, MN, March 4, 1999 — National Computer Systems, Inc. (NCS) (NASDAQ: NLCS) has further established its presence in the electronic testing market through its Virtual University Enterprises division (VUE) with the announcement of rapid channel expansion. As the number of NCS’s VUE Authorized Testing Centers recently passed 700, it marks another important milestone in its position as a leading testing service provider for the information technology (IT) field. These testing centers are actively delivering certification exams for test sponsors such as Microsoft, IBM and Novell.
A recent agreement with California-based Computer Assisted Testing Service (CATS) will add 310 testing sites to the VUE testing channel, bringing VUE Authorized Testing Centers to over 1,000 sites. CATS, whose primary business is delivering computer exams for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), will now also administer IT certification exams.
In a separate accord, IBM Global Services, Education and Training agreed to use VUE’s electronic testing system to deliver IBM exams at approximately 70 owned and operated training centers in Europe and Asia. In addition to delivering IBM exams, they plan to deliver Microsoft and Novell Certification exams as well.
Donna Senko, Microsoft’s Group Manager of Certification and Skills Assessment said, “VUE has made great progress in making Microsoft certification exams more available to Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) candidates in all parts of the world. VUE’s unique internet-based technology has even allowed them to extend their delivery range into countries where MCP exams previously weren’t available.”
Commenting on today’s announcement, Russell A. Gullotti, NCS Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, “Due to an overwhelmingly positive response from the testing channel, VUE was able to surpass an aggressive year-end expansion goal. As the demand for IT professionals accelerates, as well as the demand for certified workers, we anticipate that companies will continue to turn to NCS for the accessibility and dependability that VUE can offer them.”
