NCS-VUE Awarded Exclusive Testing at Premier Microsoft Events

Virtual University Enterprises to Offer Large-Scale Testing at Leading Tech Ed 99 Conferences

Minneapolis, MN, March 19, 1999 — Virtual University Enterprises (VUE), a division of National Computer Systems, Inc. (NCS) (NASDAQ: NLCS), has announced that they have been selected by Microsoft Corporation to be the exclusive testing delivery provider of Microsoft certification exams at prominent Microsoft conferences.

In the U.S, VUE was chosen to implement large-scale event testing at Microsoft’s largest developer conference, Tech Ed 99 in Dallas, TX, May 21 - May 28. More than 10,000 attendees will have the opportunity to take Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification exams and Microsoft Sales Specialist exams while at the conference.

“In choosing a testing vendor for Tech Ed, it was important to find one whose certification exam delivery system was able to fully utilize Microsoft® Windows NT®, Windows® 95 and Windows® 98 operating and networking features,” said Eckhart Boehme, marketing manager certification and skills assessment for Microsoft. “VUE not only has these capabilities, but also has an extremely flexible system, a reputation for extraordinary service and tenacious pursuit of creative solutions. It’s clear that VUE is a good fit for this event.”

VUE was also selected to provide exclusive testing at the Microsoft European Tech Ed 99 conference, held July 6 - 9 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Event coordinators expect approximately 5,000 computer professionals to participate. Microsoft EMEA Channel Marketing Manager, Kees Pronk, stated, “To Microsoft, Tech Ed Europe 99 is the most important technical event for our MCPs. Therefore, in selecting the on-site testing provider, we needed to ensure that the best provider was selected for what we required for an event of this scale and importance. With their on-site testing solution and the proven ability for web registrations, VUE was the intelligent choice.”

Promotional and discounted exam pricing is available for current and prospective MCPs who wish to test at these two events. More information on the conferences and discounted pricing can be found at www.microsoft.com/mcp.

VUE was also chosen to provide MCP certification exams to more than 800 attendees at the Program Developers Conference at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 99, held March 17 - 19.

“We are very proud that Microsoft has chosen VUE as their partner at these prestigious events. I think it says a lot about the confidence Microsoft has in our people and technology,&” said S. Neil Crocker, VUE Vice President - IT Programs. “The entire VUE team, with its passion for service, is working hard to ensure that MCPs at the conferences have a wonderful testing experience. I am convinced that once candidates experience VUE’s fast, easy registration and reliable testing, they’ll turn to VUE for all of their future testing needs.”
