NCS-VUE Test Delivery Systems are Y2K Ready

NCS-VUE Meets Scheduled Y2K Certification

Minneapolis, Minn., July 16, 1999 — Virtual University Enterprises (VUE), a division of National Computer Systems, Inc. (NCS) (NASDAQ: NLCS), has announced that as of June 30, 1999 all VUE test delivery systems are certified as Y2K ready. VUE test delivery systems are used to deliver Information Technology (IT) Certification exams through a global network of over 1,200 authorized centers in 92 countries around the world. This system delivers, scores, and retrieves exam information for leading software companies such as Microsoft®, Novell®, IBM® and others.

“Because all of our systems are new and built with Y2K in mind, all of our Y2K efforts were devoted to testing and documentation,” said Neil Crocker, vice president of IT Programs. VUE’s technically advanced exam delivery software needed minimal updating because it was developed making extensive use of shared and common files and relied on Y2K development tools. The Y2K certification process involved more than a thousand hours of assessment, testing and documentation to produce the extensive records needed to confirm compliance.

VUE’s on-schedule certification is further evidence that Y2K compliant VUE Authorized Testing Centers and their exam candidates will enjoy uninterrupted test delivery service on and after January 1, 2000. NCS-VUE corporate initiatives are in place to maintain compliance into the new millennium.
