Pearson Once Again Named to Star Tribune’s List of Top Workplaces
BLOOMINGTON, Minn., June 24, 2011 — Pearson is proud to announce that, for the second year, it was named to the Star Tribune’s list of Twin Cities’ Top Workplaces. The 2011 award was based on a Star Tribune survey completed by employees of metro-area organizations earlier this year. Pearson currently has nearly 2,000 Minnesota-based employees representing several divisions.
Pearson VUE, headquartered in Bloomington, is the computer-based testing (CBT) business unit of Pearson which delivers millions of credentialing and academic admissions exams each year—ranging from individual, state-based licensure programs to the largest CBT program in the world.
“I believe there’s a direct correlation between how a company treats its employees and its success,” said Bob Whelan, Pearson VUE President and CEO. “We work hard to provide employees with a healthy work/life balance, professional and personal growth opportunities and a path to career enhancement,” he said. “We are delighted that our employees consider Pearson VUE a great place to work.”
“I’m not at all surprised Pearson won this award again,” said David Herkenhoff, a Pearson VUE marketing specialist who has worked at the company for more than three years. “From the start, Pearson VUE has given me a lot of responsibility and opportunity and, most important, the support I need to do my job well,” he said. “It’s also rewarding to be part of an organization that gives so much back to the community.”
Star Tribune Publisher Michael J. Klingensmith said, “The companies in the Star Tribune Top 100 Workplaces deserve high praise for creating the very best work environments in the state of Minnesota. My congratulations to each of these exceptional companies.”
Produced by the same team that compiles the 20-year-old Star Tribune 100 report of the best-performing public companies in Minnesota, Top Workplaces recognizes the most progressive companies in Minnesota based on employee opinions about company leadership, communication, career opportunities, workplace environment, managerial skills, pay and benefits. The analysis included responses from over 60,500 employees at Minnesota public, private and nonprofit organizations.
