CompTIA, Cisco and Pearson VUE Team Up to Advance Networking Careers

“Networking Bundle” offers discounted training materials and certification testing to IT professionals in the US

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., December 14, 2010 — Pearson VUE, the computer-based testing business of Pearson, announced this month its collaboration with CompTIA and Cisco to promote careers in the IT networking field. With the demand for IT networking professionals forecasted to double by 2012, development and advancement of IT networking skills is critical. The three organizations are working together to provide aspiring networking professionals a career plan and a special offer on training materials and certification exams via the Networking Bundle.

From now until April 30, 2011, professionals in the US will have the opportunity to purchase the Networking Bundle which includes both the CompTIA Network+ exam and Cisco CCNA® exam at a 25 percent discount. Also included are CompTIA Network+ and CCNA self-study materials, at a savings of 30 percent, to help individuals better prepare for these exams.

“Today’s high-tech professional must bring greater versatility and a broader skill set to the workplace than was required in the past,” said Terry Erdle, senior vice president, skills certification, CompTIA. “Training, continuing education and certification are critical elements in developing a broad base of the technical, business and communications skills employers are looking for. CompTIA is pleased to team with Cisco and Pearson VUE as we work together to help IT professionals around the world advance their knowledge, skills and career credentials.”

The release of the Networking Bundle solidifies the career path and natural progression between the CompTIA and Cisco certification programs. Further, with the purchase of this bundle candidates are able to build upon their CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ knowledge and skills in order to achieve CCNA certification.

“As the network becomes the communications platform for all industries, there is an increasing demand for networking professionals who can accurately and quickly anticipate, diagnose and resolve complex network issues and support increasingly sophisticated networks. The bundle will encourage candidates to take that next step in achieving their certification goals and advancing their careers,” said Jeanne Beliveau-Dunn, vice president and general manager, Learning@Cisco.

“At Pearson VUE, we strive to find opportunities for our clients to work together for their mutual benefit,” said Robert Whelan, president and chief executive officer of Pearson VUE. “The CompTIA and Cisco collaboration not only does this, it provides networking professionals with a valuable training and exam bundle to help them accelerate their networking careers.”
