Pearson VUE begins Test Administration for the Arizona Department of Real Estate

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., September 16, 2010 — Pearson VUE, the computer-based testing business of Pearson, announced today that the State of Arizona Department of Real Estate (“Department”) has selected Pearson VUE to develop and administer licensing exams for brokers and salespeople. The contract was awarded following a competitive bidding process.

Critical to the Department’s decision to select Pearson VUE is their extensive experience in applying examination development standards that will help the Department achieve its goal to raise the competency level of new entrants into the real estate field. The Department also took note of Pearson VUE’s continuous status as an ARELLO-certified examination administrator. Obtaining and maintaining ARELLO® certification is a strenuous process requiring documented proof of compliance with ARELLO Guidelines for Accreditation and the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing among other principles.

Judy Lowe, Commissioner of the Arizona Department of Real Estate commented, “Transitioning to a new vendor can sometimes bring a testing program to a halt and present a number of challenges. Pearson VUE was able to quickly and effectively implement our high-stakes testing program in a way that was nearly seamless to our candidates; an accomplishment I have shared with various state leaders. Additionally, Pearson VUE’s ARELLO-accredited examinations give the Department added assurance that the exams maintain a high standard of quality and consistency.”

Art Valentine, senior vice president of professional services and general manager of regulatory services at Pearson VUE, said, “We are extremely pleased to be working with the Arizona Department of Real Estate. Pearson VUE is looking forward to demonstrating the dedication to customer service, strong program management, and high quality content development that our reputation is built upon.”

Robert Whelan, president and chief executive officer of Pearson VUE, added, “As a company, Pearson VUE is strongly committed to investing in the markets we serve. Earning and maintaining credentials such as the ARELLO Certified Vendor designation signals to the market that we are prepared to help our clients — like the Arizona Department of Real Estate — maintain the highest possible standards when delivering the exams we develop.”
