Pearson VUE Selected by State of Wisconsin for Continued Administration of its Insurance Licensure Program
BLOOMINGTON, Minn., December 22, 2008 — Pearson VUE, the computer-based testing business of Pearson, has announced that the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (“OCI”) has renewed its contract with Pearson VUE following a competitive bidding process. The new contract, effective on July 1, 2009, includes an initial term of two years and up to three additional one-year extensions.
The contract’s provisions consist of examination development and administration, continuing education (CE) management, and a range of support services, including electronic background checks through the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Currently, Pearson VUE tests approximately 15,500 candidates annually for the OCI and has approved or renewed over 2,000 CE courses and 34 education providers in the last year.
Pearson VUE’s relationship with the OCI dates back to 1990, when it first outsourced its insurance examination program. Since then, Pearson VUE’s contract has grown to include customized reporting, administration of the state’s continuing education program, and the development of an electronic Crime Information Bureau screening system. More recently, Pearson VUE expanded its test center offerings in neighboring Minnesota for the benefit of candidates in northwestern Wisconsin.
Laurna Landphier, Insurance Program Manager, Agent Licensing Section said of the new contract, “Based on our past positive experiences, we are certain that Pearson VUE will continue to deliver an outstanding licensure program for our state.”
Art Valentine, vice president of professional services and general manager of regulatory services at Pearson VUE said, “We have had a long and successful relationship with the OCI based on continuous service enhancements and frequent collaboration. We see this latest contract win as both a reaffirmation of our past work and an opportunity to further improve the Wisconsin insurance program.”
Robert Whelan, president of Pearson VUE added, “The Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance has been a valued client of Pearson VUE for many years. Their program, which features a wide array of services, allows us to demonstrate our commitment to effective solutions, flawless execution, and unparalleled customer satisfaction.”
