Pearson VUE Launches Missouri Insurance Examination Program in Record Time
BLOOMINGTON, Minn., April 24, 2008 — Pearson VUE, the electronic certification and licensure testing business of Pearson, announced today the complete successful launch of the Missouri Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions, and Professional Registration (“Department”) licensure examination program. The contract was awarded at the conclusion of a competitive bidding process in February and signed shortly thereafter. Initial testing began 10 days later—a new record for its regulatory business—and the program was fully implemented in just two months.
The program covers examination development of 16 insurance levels and computer-based test (CBT) delivery on the Pearson VUE network for approximately 12,000 candidates annually. In addition, Pearson VUE is providing the Department with continuing education (CE) services; this includes reviewing over 1,300 new CE courses and processing renewals for more than 3,400 courses every year, as well as providing online access to CE course offerings.
The selection of Pearson VUE was ultimately determined by several factors including the company’s ability to develop a sound examination program, provide adequate test site coverage, and build a working relationship with the Department backed by strong customer service. With the transition already complete, candidates are realizing the advantages of testing with Pearson VUE. Among the benefits offered, Missouri insurance candidates can schedule their exams up to one day in advance by toll-free telephone or around the clock through the Web. With Pearson VUE owned-and-operated test centers strategically located throughout Missouri and neighboring states, candidates can count on a high quality testing experience that is close to home.
The Department as well as Missouri insurance licensees and education providers also benefit from Pearson VUE’s extensive experience in administering insurance continuing education programs. Every year Pearson VUE audits and approves thousands of credits and courses for 10 insurance regulatory clients in addition to the 29 U.S. jurisdictions for which Pearson VUE provides insurance licensure testing.
Matt Barton, the Department’s licensing manager noted, “Pearson VUE’s ability to transition our program from the previous vendor so quickly and efficiently was truly impressive.”
Art Valentine, general manager of regulatory services at Pearson VUE said, “While implementing such a complex licensure program in 10 days is unprecedented and truly remarkable, it is not surprising given our history of going the extra mile to satisfy our clients’ needs. The Missouri Department of Insurance can expect more of the same from Pearson VUE as we continue to strengthen our partnership with the Department and its constituents.”
Robert Whelan, president of Pearson VUE said, “We’re thrilled to extend our services to the Missouri Department of Insurance, and we are dedicated to ensuring that the Department is equally thrilled with Pearson VUE as their test delivery partner. The rapid launch of the Department’s examination and CE program proves that Pearson VUE is wholly committed to the success of their program.”
