Pearson VUE adds Continuing Education to its Suite of Services for Virginia Insurance Candidates
BLOOMINGTON, Minn., February 26, 2008 — Pearson VUE, the electronic certification and licensure testing business of Pearson, announced that the Virginia Insurance Continuing Education Board (‘Board’) has selected Pearson VUE as its service provider. The two-year contract, awarded at the conclusion of a competitive bidding process in October, ends the Board’s 14-year relationship with the incumbent vendor.
When Pearson VUE begins its continuing education (CE) services for the Commonwealth of Virginia, it will become the total solution provider for Virginia insurance candidates, licensees, and educators. Among the services to be performed, Pearson VUE will review and approve close to 1,000 instructors and 2,000 courses annually and provide credit banking for more than 100,000 licensees over the next two years. In addition, Pearson VUE will offer customer support, program management, printed publications, and course audits.
“We are committed to providing the Virginia Insurance Continuing Education Board with the highest possible level of service,” said Art Valentine, general manager of regulatory services at Pearson VUE. “Our comprehensive approach will streamline the Board’s workflow and allow them to focus on the most critical functions, not back-office work. We’re confident the Board, licensees, and educators will see a substantial improvement.”
Robert Whelan, president of Pearson VUE added, “The decision of the Virginia Insurance Continuing Education Board to select a different vendor for the first time since it began outsourcing 14 years ago, compels us to deliver an exceptionally reliable service that goes above and beyond the Board’s requirements. This is a task that Pearson VUE is well-equipped to carry out.”
