Pearson VUE Introduces New Test Center Locator for Online Users

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., February 8, 2008 — With the recent redesign of the Pearson VUE website (www.pearsonvue.com), several new features were introduced to benefit online users. Visitors to the site will experience easier navigation, user-friendly enhancements, and increased information. Most notably, a proximity-based search tool was added that allows users to locate the 5, 10, or 20 test centers closest to their street address, city, or postal code.

Previously, the locator searched a database to find all test centers in a given state or country. By contrast, the new locator searches by distance within a 1,000-mile (or 1,600-kilometer) radius and returns a specified number of results. In countries where the proximity locator is supported, users will now retrieve a specified number of test centers closest to their chosen location, across state and country borders. For example, a user in Detroit, Michigan, can locate test centers in neighboring states or in Canada rather than only in Michigan.

Test candidates in countries where the proximity-based tool is supported will now be able to find nearby test centers by accessing the “Locate a Test Center” page on the Pearson VUE website and selecting their country plus any of the following search criteria:

  • Street Address + City + State (if applicable),
  • Street Address + City + Postal Code,
  • City + State,
  • City + Postal Code,
  • State, or
  • Postal Code.

In those countries where the proximity-based tool is not supported (e.g., Japan, China), the locator will search a database and furnish a list of all test centers in a particular state and/or country.

“We are continually seeking ways to bring our testing candidates added value and to make it easier to register for exams online,” said Robert Whelan, president, Pearson VUE. “We are committed to providing convenience for our customers, and we routinely monitor candidate feedback. This new tool was developed, in response to this feedback, in order to make the registration process easier and faster for our online users.”
