American Board of Surgery Renews Test Delivery Contract with Pearson VUE
BLOOMINGTON, Minn., January 03, 2008 — Pearson VUE, the electronic certification and licensure testing business of Pearson, announced that it signed a long-term renewal contract with the American Board of Surgery (ABS) to provide test delivery services for ABS certification exams. ABS certification exams will continue to be delivered in over 230 Pearson Professional Centers nationwide.
The ABS offers computer-based examinations as part of its certification process in a number of surgical specialties, including general, vascular and pediatric surgery, as well as surgical critical care. The ABS was established in 1937 for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training and knowledge in surgery. It is one of 24 certifying boards that are members of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
“The past few years have proven to us that Pearson VUE is more than capable of meeting our test delivery needs,” said Dr. Robert Rhodes, associate executive director and director of evaluation, ABS. “The Pearson Professional Centers not only provide the security our certification program needs, but also the convenience and professionalism we want to provide to our candidates. We look forward to growing our certification program with Pearson VUE in the years to come.”
“Integrity, security and professionalism are hallmarks of the ABS certification program, so we’re honored that they continue to place their trust in Pearson VUE,” said Robert Whelan, president, Pearson VUE. “Our Pearson Professional Center network is the perfect fit for a high-stakes certification program like the one ABS offers, and we will continually strive to be their test provider of choice.”
