Pearson VUE Renews Contracts with Three Long-Standing Clients

Philadelphia, PA, September 14, 2007 — Pearson VUE, the global leader in electronic testing services for academic admissions, certification, and licensure programs, announced the renewal of three highly valued contracts with the Illinois Department of Insurance, the North Carolina Department of Insurance and the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services.

The contracts were awarded at the conclusion of individual, competitive bidding processes in March and April of this year. All three clients have a long history of successive contract renewals with Promissor, the regulatory testing business that is now a part of Pearson VUE.

Illinois Department of Insurance
Pearson VUE has been providing examination development and administration services for the Illinois insurance program for over 16 years. During Pearson VUE’s tenure, the Illinois Department of Insurance’s program has grown significantly, migrating from paper-and-pencil examinations to computer-based testing. Additionally, service offerings have included licensure screening; on-site, photo-bearing, license application documentation; and continued development and administration of the personal and two limited lines licensure examinations.

North Carolina Department of Insurance
The North Carolina Department of Insurance (DOI) has also had a business relationship with Pearson VUE’s regulatory services group for 16 years. A number of major milestones have been reached for the DOI’s insurance agent and insurance adjuster programs. The DOI has also upgraded to computer-based testing from paper-and-pencil testing under Pearson VUE’s tenure. Together, Pearson VUE and the DOI have increased both the exam delivery frequency (from twice a month to daily) and the security levels in the test centers. Pearson VUE has also assumed responsibility for issuing official photo-bearing licenses to qualified candidates at the test center. In 2008, the DOI and Pearson VUE will add bail bondsman licensing to the exam offerings.

Washington State Department of Social and Health Services
The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services nursing assistant certification testing and competency evaluation program has been administered by Pearson VUE since 1997. Over the past 10 years, the program has been enhanced to reduce registration lead times, deliver same-day official score results to candidates, and expedite certification processing. As part of the growth and development of the program, Pearson VUE continuously monitors testing volumes to identify and resolve capacity issues, ensuring timely scheduling and examinations.

Art Valentine, general manager of regulatory services at Pearson VUE, stated, “We are very fortunate to have established long-standing and equitable relations with these three clients over many years. We will continue to leverage our 26 years of regulatory experience and vast pool of knowledgeable staff to continue growing and developing their respective programs.”

Robert Whelan, president of Pearson VUE, added, “In an industry as competitive as regulatory testing, we are honored to continue serving the Illinois Department of Insurance, the North Carolina Department of Insurance, and the Washington State Department of Health and Human Services. Working closely with each client, Pearson VUE strives to meet and exceed the high expectations that come with building such valuable relationships.”
