BLOOMINGTON, Minn., September 7, 2006 — Pearson VUE, the computer-based testing business of Pearson, announced that it has been selected as a sub-contractor for FasTrac, a federal contracting vehicle for IT certification vouchers. Through FasTrac, Pearson VUE will offer IT certification vouchers to all government contractors, including the Department of Defense.
Pearson VUE was selected to offer IT certification vouchers on the FasTrac contract to assist in the implementation of the Department of Defense Directive 8570 (for more information, visit iase.disa.mil/8570FAQAug05FINAL.doc) which mandates commercial IT certifications for personnel performing IT security functions. Over 80,000 DoD military and civilian personnel will need to comply with the Department of Defense Directive 8570 (iase.disa.mil).
Pearson VUE has over 4,000 global test centers that provide on-site testing for industry credentialing associations to deliver certification and licensure exams to any eligible service member, dependent and spouse. The Pearson VUE® Authorized Test Center network includes recognized DANTES Service Education Centers. These DANTES centers provide easy access, flexible scheduling and secure facilities for testing all eligible personnel.
FasTrac was developed to foster cooperation among government agencies, maximize learning technology interoperability and eliminate redundant development of advanced learning technologies. As a result, all government agencies can take advantage of IT certification vouchers provided by Pearson VUE to assist in government IT mandates, continuing education improvements for government employees and new employee hiring requirements.
