ROSELAND, New Jersey, June 13, 2005 — ADP® Employer Services, a leading provider of integrated outsourced payroll and human resources services, today announced it has introduced a national certification program. The ADP Certified Professional Program has been designed to help ensure that clients’ payroll administrators possess the professional knowledge and practical experience to perform critical tasks. By becoming an ADP Certified Payroll Specialist (ADP CPS), payroll professionals validate their expertise and enhance their credibility. At the same time, employers gain greater peace of mind that their mission-critical functions, such as payroll administration, are being handled by capable and well-trained professionals.
The program has been launched with two key ADP payroll products: ADP PC/Payroll and Pay eXpert®. As the program grows, additional product certifications will follow. The ADP Certified Professional Program is a voluntary program open to anyone seeking ADP product certification. ADP is also offering candidates online “refresher” courses to help prepare for the certification examination.
“ADP consistently looks for new ways to improve our service to clients, and this includes looking beyond our existing product solutions,” said Susan Olenick, Manager, Training & Performance Systems, ADP Major Accounts Services. “We have received overwhelmingly supportive responses to this program from clients. Many noted the value they will receive both personally and professionally from an ADP professional certification. We’re looking forward to expanding both the number of certification exams and training classes, as well as the number of products to match the wide range of payroll, HR, and benefits administration solutions that ADP provides.”
“Payroll is often the biggest operating expense for employers. Through certification, management can be confident that payroll is being handled accurately by a responsible and skilled individual,” said Mary Heisterman, Payroll Supervisor, Knightsbridge Solutions. “ADP’s certification program allowed me to validate my knowledge of ADP PC/Payroll. I’d recommend it to any payroll professional looking to advance his or her career.”
ADP has been working with Pearson VUE, the global leader in electronic testing, to develop and deliver the certification exams. Through this partnership, Pearson VUE will administer the tests through its network of more than 200 Pearson Professional Centers in the United States and its territories. Pearson will also manage the entire administration process, including registration and credit card payment.
“We are excited to be working with ADP, an established industry leader, for its Certified Professional Program,” said Bob Whelan, Pearson VUE Vice President and General Manager. “As a leader in computer-based testing, Pearson VUE looks for partners that share our commitment to delivering exceptional service to clients. We recognize the numerous benefits for candidates and ADP clients, as well as the great potential of this new program.”
Beta testing of the ADP Certified Professional Program began in April. Over 500 candidates have taken the ADP Certified Payroll Specialist examination for its ADP PC/Payroll product this spring. Registration for the ADP Certified Payroll Specialist examination for its Pay eXpert product is now open.
“To become certified in the software that leads the industry and is constantly setting standards is exciting, and I was happy to be part of the beta group,” said Latahsha Battee, Payroll Supervisor Hanover Compressor Company. “I think the program is a great idea, and I was really impressed with the exam. The format followed the CPP exam, and it covered a broad range of topics, from keying to adjustments to maintenance.”
The ADP Certified Professional Program is currently offered through ADP Major Account Services, a business unit within ADP Employer Services that serves organizations with 50 to 999 employees. The program for ADP PC/Payroll and Pay eXpert will be generally available throughout the U.S. in the fall of 2005.
