BLOOMINGTON, Minn., December 7, 2004 — Pearson VUE, the electronic testing business of Pearson Education, today jointly announced with DANTES, JASZ Technology, Microsoft Corp. and New Horizons Learning Center of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, North Carolina that all five organizations have collaborated to offer a Microsoft® certification exam voucher program exclusively for active-duty, National Guard, and Reserve United States military service members.
The Microsoft Pilot Test Voucher Initiative, which began November 1, 2004, allows eligible United States military service members to apply for a free Microsoft certification exam voucher. This free exam program is exclusively available in the Pearson VUE global network of over 3,700 Pearson VUE™ Authorized Centers.
To participate in this program, military personnel must apply for the free exam vouchers online at www.dantes-microsoft-test.com. The active personnel accepted as part of this program will receive an electronic Pearson VUE voucher they can use to register for their free exam taken at any Pearson VUE Authorized Center worldwide.
Antoinette Taylor, JASZ Technology, Inc. president, said, “The Microsoft Pilot Test Voucher Initiative is an excellent program. It allows service members who have acquired technology skills through their military training, college, on-the-job-training, and self-study to document their knowledge using a widely recognized certification provider such as Microsoft. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to administer this program to our servicemen and women.”
“In 11 years in my position with DANTES, I have witnessed that Microsoft is by far the most requested of the IT certification programs. Our responses to inquiries indicated how we would love to work with Microsoft. However, our dilemma was, how can we accomplish it? This Microsoft Pilot Test Voucher Initiative is an innovative way to assist in meeting some service members’ needs for today and provide some foundation for them to build on for tomorrow,” stated Sandra Winborne, who manages the DANTES Certification Program.
“This program represents an unprecedented opportunity for U.S. service members to realize their potential through Microsoft certification,” said Lutz Ziob, general manager of Microsoft Learning. “Our relationship with Pearson VUE, through the DANTES initiative and in concert with New Horizons and JASZ Technology, empowers thousands of servicepeople to validate their technical skills and establish a solid foundation for lifelong success in their careers.”
