Industry Veteran Rejoins Pearson VUE to Lead Charge into New Markets

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., February 24, 2003 — Pearson VUE, an electronic testing business of Pearson Education, today announced the appointment of Randy Trask to the key position of vice president of market development. The appointment is effective March 17, 2003.

Appointing someone of Randy’s caliber to this position is a demonstration of our commitment to expand our comprehensive electronic testing solution to increasingly diverse markets,” said Bob Whelan, vice president and general manager of Pearson VUE.

Trask will focus on introducing Pearson VUE’s electronic testing services, which are well known in the IT and professional certification and licensing verticals, into new markets. In addition, Trask will assume leadership of the Pearson VUE marketing department. “We expect to fully leverage Randy’s market development experience for the benefit of our client partners interested in taking their certification programs to the next level,” Whelan continued.

A pioneer in the electronic testing business, Trask was a founding employee of Drake Prometric, (now Thomson Prometric) where he held several key operational and business development roles. While at Drake, Trask was instrumental in helping to launch the IT certification testing business, and led Drake into the aviation regulatory testing market where he established a national network of flight school testing centers. At Pearson VUE, Trask was a member of the senior leadership team and helped to launch Pearson VUE’s testing business. Most recently, Trask served as senior vice president of strategic business development at iLearning, Inc., a company largely owned by Sylvan Learning Systems, Inc. and The Chauncey Group International.
