Minneapolis, Minn., May 18, 2001 — NCS Pearson, Inc. and Prometric Inc. today announced they have settled the dispute over use of the TDL test markup language by VUE, NCS Pearson's electronic testing business. The lawsuit originally was filed by Sylvan Learning Systems, Inc., on behalf of its Prometric business unit.
As a part of the settlement, NCS Pearson obtained a long-term license to use TDL and sublicense TDL to NCS Pearson customers and test development partners.
“We are pleased this has been settled. The confusion surrounding the TDL issue was a concern to both our customers and Prometric’s. This settlement is a good faith act by both Prometric and NCS Pearson to meet the needs of our respective customers and facilitate the continuing rapid growth of the electronic certification and licensure test delivery markets,” said Neil Crocker, vice president and general manager of VUE.
